Privacy
Reading this site sets no cookies, contacts no other company, and tells us nothing about you as a person. The longest-lived thing we hold is an IP address in a server log, for about seven weeks.
Who publishes XT.PT
XT.PT is published by RogerLe.com, which is the data controller for this site. There is no third party between you and the two editors: no analytics vendor, no ad network, no content delivery network, no comment platform. Reach us through the contact form.
What we collect
Server logs. Every request to xt.pt is written to a log file: the IP address, the time, what was requested, the response code, the referring page and the browser’s user-agent string. They exist to keep the site secure and working — spotting attacks, diagnosing errors. They are rotated daily and deleted after about 52 days, and nothing is derived from them for audience measurement.
The contact form. What you write, the topic you choose, the story it concerns if you name one, and your reply address if you give one — it is optional, and used only to answer you. We do not store your IP address with a message. The spam protection is a signed timestamp rather than an address log, chosen deliberately so that stopping spam never requires keeping a record of who wrote to us. Messages are deleted once the editors have dealt with them.
Reading counts. We count how often a story is read, as a single number per story per day. There is no identifier attached — no cookie, no fingerprint, no address. It cannot be traced back to a person by anyone, including us, because the information required to do so was never collected.
Follows. If you follow a section, that preference is kept in your browser session; signed in, it is stored against your account.
Cookies
Reading XT.PT sets no cookie at all. Not one — not on an article, not
on the homepage, not even on the contact page, which verifies where a
submission came from without issuing you a session. A cookie
(xtpt_s) appears only when you do something that has to be
remembered between requests: following a section, or sending the form.
Editors signing in to the admin panel get a second one. There are no
tracking, advertising or third-party cookies, because there are no third
parties.
What we never do
- No analytics of any kind — not Google Analytics, not a privacy-friendly alternative, none.
- No third-party resources. Fonts, stylesheets, scripts and images are all served from xt.pt, so reading this site causes your browser to contact no other company. That is enforced by a Content-Security-Policy header, not merely intended.
- We never sell, rent or share your data. There is no mechanism to do it and no business here that would use one.
- No advertising, no tracking pixels, no data brokers, no mailing list.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask for it corrected, or ask for it deleted, through the contact form. If you are in the EU or the UK, the GDPR gives you those rights explicitly; we apply them to everyone who asks. In practice, unless you have written to us, there is nothing to hand over beyond a line in a log that expires by itself.
The lawful basis for the logs is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and functioning; for the contact form, it is your consent, given by sending the message.
Changes
If this changes, this page changes and the date above moves with it.
